Get ready for an evening full of sharp wit, big laughs, and international flair at Theater de Omval. For the very first time, we’re hosting a fully English‑spoken Comedy Night and we’re kicking things off with an outstanding lineup.

Emily Higginson – quick, clever, and delightfully unpredictable
Greg Shapiro – the voice behind the famous “Netherlands Second” video and a master of political satire
Jacob Adriani – dry humor, sharp timing, and a true crowd‑pleaser

Emily Higgson is an American comedian known for her twisted, high-energy comedy. She has toured across Europe and the UK, opening for acts like Olga Koch, Lara Ricote, and Derek Mitchell, and is a a cast member at Club Haug.

Greg Shapiro: Comedian, American, Dutchman. (And the voice of the ‘Netherlands Second’ video with over 50 million views online.) Shapiro was the host of Comedy Central News: “because Dutch news is news too.” His standup specials have appeared on Dutch BNN-VARA and HumorTV. And he helped establish the Amsterdam comedy theater Boom Chicago, which launched the careers of alumni like Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele and the creators of Ted Lasso. Shapiro’s latest standup special is Greg Shapiro’s Climate Good News. In the Netherlands alone, there are solar-powered cars, wind-powered trains and garbage-powered trucks. But no one seems to hear about it, because Dutch culture is all about modesty. Enter the American Netherlander: Greg Shapiro is Dutch enough to be proud of Dutch innovations and American enough to be loud about it. Kendra Borgen (USA) Born to a Reagan-era, hunter-gatherer society in Alaska, Kendra picked up the saxophone at age 10, inspired by the iconic styles of Lisa Simpson. In 1999, she survived the treacherous Alaskan-Canadian Highway and made her way to Oregon to study music. But by 2004, she’d had enough—she bought a one-way ticket to Amsterdam in search of an affordable Master’s degree (and a better life) and has never looked back. She’s been entertaining Amsterdam audiences ever since. Come hear Kendra’s stories about her journey from the hilariously rugged Alaskan upbringing to navigating the chaos of Amsterdam’s canals.
